Bumper Clearance Needed for Curt Cargo Carrier C18113 on Jeep Wrangler

Question:

So then that would be 6.5 from hitch pin to the back of the rack? And are the walls 4 high when measured from the top of the square tube receiver bar? Im trying to make sure it will clear the spare tire on a Jeep Wrangler.

According to Curt on the # C18113 the center hitch pin hole to closest part of carrier distance is indeed 6-1/2 inches. The sides of the carrier are 4 inches tall, and the basket sits directly atop the shank which means that height above the top of the shank is exactly 4 inches.

If you find that this will not be enough clearance for you, Curt makes a more traditionally-styled carrier, part # C18151. This rack is capable of folding up against the rear of the vehicle when not in use. When unfolded, the carrier offers a whopping 19 inches of clearance between the hitch pin hole and the closest edge of the carrier. When folded, the carrier offers more clearance than the one you were looking at, right at 9 inches.
