Installing Erickson Horizontal E-Track to Wood Walled Trailer
Question:
Can you tell me if I will need backing plates to install the track in a 5 x 8 trailer? I’m also curious whether it should be mounted directly to the wall framing or on top of the wood wall board still penetrating the frame. I am about to replace the wood walls and have the opportunity to install the track flash to the wall frame or put it on top of the new wood. I also need to know if I need to add backing plates. This is the light duty use to carry camping gear.

If you are able to penetrate the frame behind the wood wall boards when installing the Erickson Horizontal E-Track # E19148 a backing plate isn't necessary. This will provide you with sufficient support, especially for lighter gear like camping supplies.
You could certainly bolt them flush to the frame if you want to instead but there's no reason these can't be mounted over the wood walls, either.
I have attached a short video review that you can check out as well.
