1-1/4 inch Hitch Options for 2019 Subaru Crosstrek for Carrying Bike Rack
Question:
When I measure the shank on my bike rack, it is 1.25 inches square. Is a 2 inch hitch what I need? Is this like 2x4s that dont actually measure 2x4?

Expert Reply:
You need a hitch with a 1-1/4 inch opening based on the dimensions of the shank of your bike rack. Unlike lumber which uses arbitrary measurements for wood hitches measurements are basically exact.
So for a hitch in the correct size for your bike rack for your 2019 Subaru Crosstrek we have the Curt part # C12184 which will work well. Or if you prefer a hitch that can be totally out of view when not in use we have the EcoHitch part # 306-X7601 which can have the lower hitch opening totally removed when not in use for a totally clean look. I attached a picture that shows what the hitch looks like when the lower portion is removed as well as an install video link for you to check out.
