Choosing Programmer or Gauge Monitor with Cold Air Intake on 2010 Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel

Question:

I have a Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel 6.7 Turbocharge, year 2010. i was looking at the Edge CS2 Insight to monitor the engine and one of your techs said this would be a good monitor easy to install for things such as transmission temperature. Then I got to thinking that I would also like a Cold Air Intake, but it looks like to take the best advantage of doing this, I should also get a Evolution CS2 which is also a monitor and programmer? which will work better with the Edge air filter I think better to have integrated than separate parts. Oh, kinda important, I live in Calf where weed can be bought at the local grocery store but plastic drink straws and certain auto parts must be bought from a dark alley from a dealer.. :- So, is this right, I should go with the Evolution CS2 instead of the Insight to best work with the Edge Cold air intake? Thanks.

Helpful Expert Reply:

A cold air intake is a passive system, and wouldn't really be dependent on any input from a programmer. Either the Insight or the Evolution would work well with the Edge Jammer CAI. You'll get modest HP gains by adding the CAI, but the Evolution # EP85301 (approved for use in CA) can provide an increase of up to 95 Horsepower which will provide a noticeable increase in power and efficiency..

The fundamental answer to your question will really depend on your desired outcome.

If you decide the programmer is the way to go, we offer the Evolution and the Jammer CAI kitted together as part # EP39012-D. The kit IS CARB compliant for legal usage in California. No hanging out in alleys will be necessary.
