Will Curt Echo Brake Controller Allow 12 Volt Accessory Circuit to Pass Through to Trailer Wiring
Question:
If you need a brake controller and decide on the Curt Echo, you also have a breakaway safety braking circuit on your trailer and need a way to keep your trailer battery at full charge with 12V auxiliary power thats picked up at the seven way trailer connector. If the trailer comes loose and separates from the vehicle the charge on the trailer battery has to be sufficient to engage the brakes when the safety switch is energized. It was recommended by your staff to use the CTBC7L to power the Curt Echo, with one wire carrying 12V back to the seven pole trailer connector. Is there an internal connection in the Echo that also sends power to the 12V auxiliary blade on the seven pole? I was advised today that this is the case but I dont see it mentioned in any of the reviews, installs, or expert conversations. If this is not the case, I think an important part of the braking concept may have been overlooked. Right now, Ill only be sure of the answer after I hook it all up and test.

I recently asked Curt if the Curt Echo part # C51180 allows the 12 volt accessory circuit to pass through from the tow vehicle wiring to the trailer wiring and they said yes that it did so your battery on your trailer will still charge.
