Trailer Wiring for 2011 Ford Escape with 8 Pin Trailer Wiring
Question:
I have a 2011 Ford Escape with the factory tow package. I just bought and received a Tekonsha #118251 from you guys with the 4-pin male square plug on it, but it’s not the right plug that my escape has. Mine has a square/rectangular 8-pin plug. Any thoughts on what I should do? My escape does not have the backup sensors

Expert Reply:
That connector is for a 7-way style connector that you'd only be able to get from a Ford dealer. The # 118251 that you have would not connect to it.
Instead we can help you with the part # 118551 which installs by plugging inline with the taillight connectors of your vehicle.
