Will Hitch Adapter With 200 lb Tongue Weight Capacity Work for Higher Weight

Question:

The tonge weight for this hitch adapter is 200lbs. I want to know if it will be strong enough for two fat tire electric bikes and a bike rack in which the combined weight could exceed 200 lbs. I will not be using it for towing, just to haul the bikes at a lower position.

We may have an option for you, though the High-Low Adapter for Tow Bars # RM-076 you referenced has a tongue weight capacity of 200 lbs and using a bike rack and bikes with a weight that exceeds that is not recommended as it does not have the strength of stability.

Using any hitch adapter will reduce the tongue weight capacity of your hitch by 50 percent, so please keep that in mind. What may work for you is the Malone Dual Hitch Extender for 2" Trailer Hitches # MPG544 which has a maximum tongue weight capacity of 400 lbs (OR 50 percent of your hitch tongue weight capacity, whichever is lower).

I have added a link to a video review for you to check out as well.
