Recommendation for Carrying a 24 Foot Ladder on a 1998 Subaru with Factory Roof Rack
Question:
Hi, I have a 1998 Subaru with the factory roof rack. Do you have an option for mounting a ladder rack to fit it? I will be carrying a 24 ft. ladder. Thanks

What I recommend to carry a ladder on a 1998 Subaru vehicle with factory installed crossbars are some simple foam blocks like # RL100K10. The blocks are designed for a canoe but could be used for a ladder. They will protect the ladder and the crossbars from damage. You can use the included straps to secure the ladder to the crossbars and tie off the ends to the front and rear of the vehicle.
You will also need to determine if the roof and roof rack each have a high enough weight carrying capacity for a 24 foot ladder. If the roof is rated to carry 100 pounds, but the rack can only hold 75, you are limited to 75 pounds.
A ladder rack like # RA-28 is not available for your vehicle.
