Converting a US 4-Way to European 7-Way

Question:

As part of our move overseas we shipped our 2017 Infiniti QX60 which did not have a tow package installed. Now faced with another move within Europe, well need to pull a trailer to take all of our stuff. My question is: how do I convert a 4-way flat plug for use with a Euro 7-way? Im pulling a relatively light load so I only need lighting controls, not brakes. Thanks!

In order to get the US style 4-Way to work with the European style 7-Way you are going to have to do a little hardwiring. What you will need is a vehicle side European 7-Way and a special converter, # 118158. You will have to cut off the 4-Way on the vehicle. The wires left over should be white for ground, brown for running lights, yellow for left turn/brake lights, and green for right turn/brake lights.

On the input side of the converter match up the wires color for color. Brown will bypass the converter. On the output side you will have a yellow wire for left turn signal only, green for right turn signal only, and red for brake lights only. Wire them into your vehicle side European 7-Way according to what the trailer needs. Don't forget the running light wire that bypassed the converter!
