How To Open a Locked Yakima Cargo Box With No Key Number On Lock Core
Question:
Needing key to open box. My lock does not have a number on it. On the sticker it has 1050682_B

Expert Reply:
If the key number is not on the face of your lock core then it is on the side (not visible while installed). Unfortunately, there is no way to get this key number unless you remove the lock core. The sticker number that you listed will not tell use this. Therefore, you can either have a locksmith pick the lock and then use the Replacement Control Key part # Y8007835 to remove it so you can get the key number or you can drill this out and then install any matching lock core and key you want, part # Y8771-A147 and part # Y8772-A147 for example. The Replacement Control Key part # Y8007835 is needed to install the new lock core as well.
