Will Roadmaster Guardian Rock Guard Cause Overheating
Question:
Is there an issue with shield protectors causing overheating of towed vehicles transmission?

Expert Reply:
There is not an issue with overheating with the Roadmaster Guardian Rock Guard # RM-4000; the only caveat is that some owner's manuals do state not to use a vertical towing shield so you will need to check the manual of your '19 Colorado. If you cannot use a vertical shield then you can use the Roadmaster Tow Defender Protective Screening # RM-4700 for a horizontal shield. Either way, the transmission should not be creating heat when you are flat towing so there will not be an issue with overheating.
For your '19 Colorado you will also need to use Crossbar-Style Base Plates # RM-523182-4 for either of these shields because the Direct-Connect Base Plates # RM-523182-5 are not compatible.
I have added links to video reviews and installs for you to check out as well.
