Lighter Weight Bike Rack That Can Carry a Kid's Bike and an E-Bike
Question:
Will the monorail platform bike rack accept a childs 20 inch bike? I am thinking about purchasing an ebike . The rack weight is an issue for me as Ill be 70 next year. This rack appears to feature both a reasonable weight and ability to carry an ebike. Grandkids go with me. Other racks Im looking at include the Kuat transfer 2 and the Kuat Sherpa 2. Both have an adapter for a smaller bike but weight capacity is less. Not sure they will handle an ebike. Thanks.

The wheel diameter range for the RockyMounts MonoRail part # RKY10004 that you referenced is between 20 and 29 inch and the rear wheel cradle can be slid to accomodate smaller kids bike wheelbases so this rack would work well in that regard as well as the others that you mentioned as it has a 60 lb capacity and is really lightweight for a platform bike rack at 38 lbs overall.
When it comes to ease of use another option you might consider is the Thule EasyFold XT part # TH903202. This rack includes a ramp which makes loading the heavier e-bikes really easy without requiring any lifting. This is a bit heavier at 45 lbs but overall it's the best option for carrying heavier bikes like yours. It also can work with kids bikes too. If your e-bike has fenders like they commonly do the MonoRail won't work as it grabs the bikes by the top of the tire where a fender normally would be.
