Bolts Wont Thread After Cleaning With Brush for Installing Trailer Hitch on 2007 Honda Odyssey

Question:

The grooves in the existing weld nuts on the vehicle are very bad. I cant even get the bolts started. I cleaned with a wire brush and used some wd-40 and wire brushed again, per the video. No luck. Any suggestions or hacks to aid in the install.

If you weren't able to get the 12M x 1.25 bolts for the etrailer.com Trailer Hitch Receiver # E98862 started even after applying WD40 and cleaning out the weld nuts with a wire brush # 814092 on your 2007 Honda Odyssey the next step is to use the 12 mm x 1.25 tap and drill bit to use drill power to clean out the threads. Typically cleaning the threads with the brush will do the trick but since that isn't working for your application the tap is what you need.

Let me know what you plan on using the trailer hitch for and I can make additional recommendations as necessary.
