Bypassing Integrated Brake Controller of 2016 Chevy Silverado 3500
Question:
I have a 2016 chevy 3500. Integrated brake controller seems weak and malfunctions with electric over hydraulic disc brake trailer. Even with electric brakes it seems like the truck is always grabbing first. Warped front rotors in 55,000 miles. Looks like the prodigy p3 controller is the hot setup. Is there a harness that plugs into the plug that plugs into the factory integrated brake controller? How do i discontinue the factory brake controller without cutting wires to hook up to the new prodigy p3 that i would be ordering from u?

Installing the P3 brake controller # 90195 on your 2016 Chevy Silverado 2500 with factory integrated controller will actually be very simple and will solve your problem.
What you will do is use harness # 3016 which plugs into a port on the truck already. But you will need to remove the blue wire from the end that plugs into the truck. You will then take a length of wire, # 10-1-1, and connect it to the blue wire you removed from the connector.
Route the blue wire through the firewall, under the truck, and to the trailer connector. Avoid hot or moving parts like suspension and exhaust.
At the trailer connector, remove the wire in the 7 oclock position (looking at the back of the connector where the wires attach). Tape it up and stow it out of the way. Then attach the wire you ran to the 7 oclock position. This will bypass the factory controller without causing any dash lights/error messages to appear.
The 10-1-1 wire is sold in lengths of 1 foot. So if you needed 20 feet you would put 20 in the quantity box.
Or an even easier solution to all of this would be a Curt Echo Brake Controller part # C51180. This plugs into the 7-way you have now, and once you sync your smart phone to it would be ready to tow with and will be an upgrade to your current setup.
