Can a 3,500 lb A-Frame Jack be Used for a 5,700 lb Dry Toy Hauler

Question:

Looking into getting a power jack. This toy hauler is fairly heavy at around 5700lbs empty. Question is I hope its not a dumb one, what power jack is best for it. I see many in 3500lbs and a few in 5000lbs, but just because it is a 5700lb trailer will a 3500lb jack work?

Expert Reply:

Since an A-Frame jack is only taking on the tongue weight of the trailer a 3,500 lb jack is plenty for your 5,700 lb (dry) trailer. Out of the available options I recommend the 3,500 lb etrailer.com jack which comes in Black # EJ-3520-BBX and White # EJ-3520-WBX because it offers 25-1/8" of lift which is the most at this weight capacity. This jack is a bolt-on application, comes with a drop leg, and is very easy to use. I have attached a review video for you to check out.
