Troubleshooting Brake Controller Install Where Output Circuit Isn't Active with Brake Pedal
Question:
I have a Nissan Pathfinder 2006. I purchased a brake controller from you all and installed it in my vehicle following your video for the 2011 Pathfinder. I also installed a 7-pull connector on the back of the vehicle. After I installed them, I checked for the signal on the 7- pull connector. Everything checks out except for the electric brake line from the brake controller. It only gives me brake lights when I manually press the adapter. Because I wasnt getting a signal I moved some wires, now the brake lights on the Pathfinder are not working. So I replaced the wires to their original location. What I need help with is how to follow the brake switch signal to the fuse boxes to be able to identify the root of the problem, like a diagram. The fuse is fine. The switch on the brake is fine. Thanks

What brake controller did you install? If it was proportional it won't put voltage on the brake output circuit till it senses you slowing down the tow vehicle so since you are testing the output circuit with the vehicle stopped that would easily explain that.
Use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to test for voltage on the red wire of the controller for voltage when the brakes are applied. If you have voltage here then you'd be good.
