Adapter to Allow LED Trailer Wiring to Connect to 2019 Ford F-150

Question:

I have a new Ford F-150 with the max tow package and extras such as Blind Spot Monitoring with the Trailer Tow Package and an integrated brake controller. When connected it runs the trailer lights, but doesnt recognize the trailer connection and, as a result, the Blind Spot Monitoring and the break controller dont work, whereas the Pro Backup Assist for the configured trailer works and I can get power for my plug-in electric hitch. Ive been looking into it and have heard several comments that the trailer 2017 has LED lights which dont draw enough load current and that I can purchase some sort of device which mimics a load, so the system can activate. Thanks

Helpful Expert Reply:

The 2019 Ford F-150 trailer wiring DOES NOT like trailers with LED taillights or lightbars that attach to the vehicle and use trailer wiring for activation. This is a problem we saw first with German vehicles a while back and an adapter was made to help part # C57003. This has load resistors built into it so that your trailer thinks it's connected to a trailer with incandescent bulbs and everything will work like normal.

Is there an adapter for a 4 pin connector?

What you're looking for is part # C35FR. It has enough pins for up to a 5-Way flat connector but all you have to do is match up the ground pins and ignore that 5th pin for your application.
