How to Choose Replacement Axle for Trailer With Mobile Home Axle

I have a old home made trailer maid with mobile home axles with electric brakes that has 14.5 in wheels it . Is it possible to put a hub on it that will take a 15 in. 5 hole wheel ? the inner bearing no. is T-25580 the outer beating no. is LM 87048 If it can be done could you tell me what I would need and the part number for the conversion. And can you tell me what the weight rating is for this axel ? Thank you

We are going to have parts that will work for you, though the issue is your current mobile home axles; these are designed for one-time use (to move mobile home from Point A to Point B) and should not be used continually so you will need to replace them.

In order to choose the correct replacement axle for your trailer you will need to know the dimensions of your current axle's hub face to hub face and spring center to spring center as in the diagram I have added; the other thing you need to know is the weight capacity of the axle you need, which should match or exceed the GVWR of your trailer.

For example the Dexter Trailer Axle w/ Electric Brakes - 5 on 4-1/2 Bolt Pattern - 89" Long - 3,500 lbs # 35545E-ST-89 measures 89" from hub-face-to-hub-face and 74" from spring-center-to-spring-center.

You do have another option, the Timbren Axle-Less Suspension System, which are simply bolted or welded so you do not have to worry about finding an axle that meets any specific measurements such as the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System # ASR35HDS05.
