The N.C. readout you are getting on the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller # 90885 means that the unit is not detecting a connected trailer. This is usually the result of a corroded 7-Way on the vehicle or trailer but since both are brand new this likely isn't the case.
The brake controller detects a trailer by sensing a power draw on the blue brake output wire when it's connected. With this in mind I recommend tracing along the blue wire from the back of the P2 to the 7-Way and look for any pinched, exposed, or damaged sections that need to be repaired or replaced. Make sure the wire is securely attached to the connector.
If this doesn't resolve the issue please let me know and we can continue to troubleshoot.
