How To Install a 30 Amp Service on an Enclosed Cargo Trailer
Question:
I have a 7x16 cargo trailer that I use as an onsite service trailer. I currently run a extention cord to a power strip for inside power. I want to set this up to run off a 30amp shore line or connect to a 3500W inverter generator mounted on the trailer tongue if I should not be near shore power remote. I plan on installing 4-5 interior outlets with one dedicated to run a portable 10K BTU AC, then the others would be for laptop, power tool chargers, maybe a mini fridge or other small electrical items and one 4ft LED shop light. Could you guide or suggest the best route to make this happen.

Yes, in order to set your trailer up for use with shore power you will first need an AC distribution panel. For this, I recommend a Progressive Dynamics Series AC Distribution Panel. In order to bring power into the panel you will also need a power inlet, the Epicord 30 Amp Twist Lock Power Inlet part # 277-000138 and a shore power cord, the Furrion RV Power Cord with Handle part # F3OR36SBOEM.
If you want to sometimes power the trailer with a generator you will also need an adapter for the above shore power cord, the Power Grip Generator Adapter for RV Power Cord part # CAM55272. The rest of the outlets, wires, and conduit can be obtained from your local home improvement store.
