How To Use the Thule Hullavator on a 2011 Subaru Outback Wagon with the Factory Roof Rack
Question:
Hello. I have seen several posts regarding the necessary additional equipment needed to attach the Thule Hullavator onto the standard rack on a Subaru outback recent model. I have an older Subaru outback, 2011. Can you confirm what parts I would need to order to have the Hullavator work on it? Please feel free to point me to an existing post if the same answer applies. Thank you, K

If by standard you mean factory then this cannot be used to attach the Thule Hullavator Pro Kayak Carrier part # TH898 on your 2011 Subaru Outback Wagon. The reason for this is that the Hullavator requires a crossbar overhang which the factory roof rack does not have. Instead, I recommend Thule WingBar Evo Crossbar System part # TH711420 and part # TH710401 which will mount up perfectly to the Hullavator on your Outback. The best part is you don't have to remove your factory roof rack either, the mounting feet will just simply clamp onto the crossbars while in the stored position. This means that when you are done using the Hullavator you can remove it and the WingBar to convert your vehicle back to factory.
The only other thing you might want to consider are locks, Thule One-Key System Lock Cylinders part # TH450600.
