Recommended Bike Rack for Use On a Trailer with Rear Spare Tire
Question:
I see that the distance from the mounting pin hole to the closest part of the mount is 13inch . I am installing a new frame mounted hitch and would like to design the receiver so that it is located such that the mounted bicycle would clear my bumper mounted spare tire. My spare tire extends 12inch from the bumper. If I installed the hitch so that its mounting pin is 2inch behind the bumper would this accomplish this without using an extender?

It sounds like you are trying to use the Lets Go Aero V-Lectric FAT PRO Bike Rack part # S64693 on the back of a trailer that has a rear spare tire. As you mentioned, the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the carrier is 13". Therefore, if the spare tire sticks out 12" from the rear bumper, and you can gain another 2 inches with the hitch install, you should be have enough clearance for you rack not to hit your spare tire.
If you still need more room then you will want to consider using an extender like the Hitch Extender For 2" Trailer Hitch Receivers part # HE06. However, this extender will reduce capacity by 50%. Please note we also offer other methods to store your spare tire like the Lippert Underchassis Double Bin Storage Unit part # LC125460 or the Roadmaster Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier part # RM-195225.
