Base Rail Kit for 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 for Husky Sliding Hitch
Question:
Hello again, a few weeks ago I asked what hardware kit I should purchase to mount my Husky 16K roller fifth wheel hitch into my new 2019 Sierra 1500, and I have since purchased the part kits. I am unable to find installation instructions on this fifth wheel, maybe not looking in the right place. Can anyone help me out? I need to know where in the truck bead these rails go, and whether the king pin should be centered on the rear axle, or in front of it. I have scheduled the install for tomorrow morning. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Husky doesn't give instructions for their universal base rail kits. I recommend using the installation instructions from the Reese Universal Kit # RP30035 since the measurements will be the same. On your short bed truck you will measure 25-1/8 inches from the rear bed edge (not tailgate) to the rearmost point of the rear rail. Then the front rail will be positioned based on the hitch footprint which is the industry standard with the slots 22 inches on center. I've attached a couple photos to assist.
You can use the measurement from this kit for the Husky kit. The biggest issue is making sure the kingpin is directly above the axle or just slightly forward of it.
