Choosing Between a Class II and Class III Trailer Hitch for a 2019 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid
Question:
I will only be using the hitch for a bike rackno towing. Is there a preference between the Class II vs. the Class III as they are both capable of carrying a bike rack and I can get a bike rack for either a 1 1/4inch or 2inch receiver. I was thinking the Class II would be a lighter weight and therefore preferable. Can you advise the weight of the Class II and Class III hitches for this vehicle? Thanks for your input.

For your 2019 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, I recommend using the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C13416 which has a class III rating. The reason that I recommend you use a class III hitch is because this gives you far more bike rack options to choose from. It also allows for more/heavier bikes to be used in certain cases. I almost always recommend going with the larger class III option, if available. The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver is also easier to install than its class III counterpart, the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # DT82QR because you don't have to lower the exhaust to do so.
In regards to physical weight, the class III options weigh around 35 lbs and the class II option weighs around 25 lbs. I have attached an install photo of the recommend trailer hitch for you as well.
