Replacement Black/Gray Water Valve and Fittings for a 1998 Newmar Dutch Star

Question:

1998 Newmar Dutch Star. A drip from black water line began this season. Possible crack in 3” fitting or joint failed. A double waste vale is installed, 3”/1.5”. Would like to replace the entire assembly but unsure how the attachment to the tank functions. See attached photos. Can you offer advice? One other though is there an external sealant that might work as a temporary fix until I get parts? We’re planning a trip in three days.

It looks like only one of your photos came through but I think I will be able to get you the parts and advice you need based on this. For starters, the Double RV Waste Valves part # T81 will be correct for the black and gray water waste valves. In order to connect the 3" waste valve to your black water tank it looks like you just have two 90 degree street elbows tied together. To replace these, we have Valterra Street DWV Fitting for RV Sewer System part # D50-2882 which can then be joined together with the Valterra ABS Solvent Cement part # A05-0303. This will be all you need to replace the plumbing from the black water tank.

In order to attach the 1-1/2" waste water valve on the above you will want to cut the pipe you have now directly behind the 1-1/2" waste water valve and then use the Valterra DWV Coupling for RV Sewer System part # D50-2933 to reattach them.

For a temp fix, your best option is to just apply gasket maker like part # LT37466 where it is leaking but it's hard telling how long this will last if at all.
