Troubleshooting Stromberg Carlson Jack that Clicks When it Attempts to Lift

Question:

going down ok going up it sounds like a dead battery .it will go up about 4 then stop it down then back up gain another 1stops sounds like the battery went dead. makes all kind of weird sounds going up.can i service this with grease???

The ball bearings in the jack screw of the Stromberg Carlson Electric Trailer Jack # JET-5000 would not need greasing but it sounds like you have other issues. You either have a weak battery that's powering this jack or a weak ground based on what you are experiencing. You can try running a jumper wire from a known working car battery posts to this and you'll know if it's the battery or the jack. If the jack starts working like it should with the jumper wires the issue is a weak ground or a bad battery. This grounds through it's mounting hardware so you should check to make sure the main ground strap of your trailer wiring is connected to the trailer frame like it should be.
