Can the Thule Hitching Post Pro Be Used with a 2-1/2 Inch Trailer Hitch
Question:
I have a rack let me this with a 1 1/4 connecter, I bought a truck with a 2 1/2 receiver, is there a safe way to use an adapter to use the two together?

Helpful Expert Reply:
It is not recommended to use multiple adapters together as this can create excessive movement and more failure points but the Curt Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve part # C45405 will most likely allow you to use the Thule Hitching Post Pro part # TH934XTR with a 2-1/2" receiver tube opening. However, the warranty would likely be voided if done so. Therefore, the choice will be up to you as to whether or not you want to use multiple adapters and risk voiding the warranty of the bike rack.
A better option for you would be to upgrade to a bike rack with 2" shank, the Yakima LongHaul # Y02476 which could then be used with the Hollywood Racks Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve part # HRHA-2 for a much safer and more secure connection point.
