How Much Clearance Is Needed to Use the Square Direct Weld Jack w/ Footplate
Question:
I need two jacks to weld onto the bumper of my 13foot boler just as stabilizers, but I dont want jacks that flip up out of the way because there is often not enough clearance to flip them down. Sometimes depending on the ground the back bumper is only a few inches off the ground. The trailer sits low so the clearance is sometimes no more than 7 or 8 inches. I want jacks that crank straight up, and do not flip out of the way, so the foot plate is close up to the bumper when stowed for travel. Top or side wind doesnt matter. Weight in the 2000 lbs would be fine since they will not be used to actually jackfoot up the trailer. I cannot tell if your square leg, wind-up jacks will give me that clearance.

The clearance measurement you are referring to is largely going to depend on where you weld the outer tube of the Square Direct Weld Jack w/ Footplate part # TJD-5000 to your bumper. However, I can confirm that while the jack is completely retracted, the distance from the bottom of the outer tube to the bottom of the foot plate will be 2-1/2". Therefore, if you were to align the bottom of the outer tube on the jack with the bottom of your bumper you would only need 2-1/2" of clearance. The above jack is also offered as a side wind, the Square Direct Weld Jack w/ Footplate part # TJD-5000S.
