Fifth Wheel Hitch and Rail Kit for 2003 Dodge Ram 2500
Question:
Hi. Just got a family hand-me-down 2003 Dodge 2500 with a Curt Quick Goose - I think the old C-630, not the 60630. Is the Convert-A-Ball the only adapter I can use with this gooseneck hitch? It is a round tube. And if so - that adapter just gives me the jeebies- despite the reviews, it looks hard to hitch, and like it would torque the hitch plate on the camper right off. If I had to start over and dont care about the gooseneck, what under rail detachable hitch would you recommend? Thanks - total newbie here.

Since we don't have an adapter that would fit the Curt Quick Goose you have installed in your 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 and you don't like adapters (I don't blame you), your best option is going to be to go with a new rail kit and hitch setup. The best rail option will be a custom fit kit as that will minimize drilling and install time when compared to a universal kit. For that we have the Reese kit part # RP50140-58 which will work great.
Now if you have a long bed truck you'd want a fixed hitch like the Reese part # RP30047 which has a 16k capacity and a great jaw design that will hold the kin pin tightly for a smoother ride. If instead you have a short bed truck you'd need the # RP30075 which is the slider hitch version of the # RP30047. This will give you the extra clearance needed to make tight turns.
