Replacement 7,000 lb Surge Brake Actuator for Drum or Disc Brakes
Question:
Im in need of a new actuator for a boat trailer. The tongue of the trailer is marked TDE or TDL hard to read LP7000,class VI max gvwr 7000 with a two inch ball. The actuator Ive removed mounts inside the trailer tongue. Also the two mounting holes are not parallel to the ground, one is higher than the other. The solenoid has a female fitting for a 3/8 x 24 to brake line. The actuators I see on your site seem to have mounting holes that are level with each other. Was hoping I could get something that fits my trailer with zero or minimal modifications. Thank you!

We definitely have surge brake actuators that can work, but the ones we carry are mounted on top of your trailer's channel tongue and you will need to drill new holes in order to mount them. Additionally, please note that these actuators are each designed to fit 3" wide channel tongues, so to ensure the proper fit you are going to want to measure your trailer tongue.
Dexter actuators are premium quality which is why I highly recommend them, and the correct 7,000 lb actuator that works with a 2" hitch ball is going to depend on if you have drum brakes or disc brakes. For drum brakes you will need the Dexter DX7.5 Drop-N-Go Brake Actuator - Drum Brakes - 2" Ball - Zinc Plated # 099-175-00
For disc brakes you will need part # 099-175-20.
