5th Wheel Towing Capacity of a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with 5.7L V8 and 3.42 Gears
Question:
I have a 2012 Chevy Silverado, 5.3L, v8 with 3.42 axle. I believe my tow capacity is 9600. I will have a curt q16 slider hitch. From what a have read on your site, I am within my limits as the trailer weight is less than 9600. I wont have water or waste during towing..only personal items and other necessary things. I would say less than 500 per person, or 1000 pounds. Any advice? I can provide my VIN if that would help. Thanks

In order to provide you with an exact towing capacity I would need your cab style, box length, and drive type in addition to the engine size and axle ratio that you provided. If you have a Double Cab with 6-1/2' bed and 4WD or Crew Cab with 5-1/2' bed and 4WD then yes, your towing capacity is 9,600 lbs.
Please note that the Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ R16 Slider part # C16521 is essentially an upgraded version of the Curt Q16 slider which we do not offer so this is what I recommend you use. The Curt A16 has a much more advanced dual interlocking jaw system which grips the kingpin more tightly as well as an easy one pin head removal system. Also, if you do have the 5-1/2' bed option then you will need Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Slide Bar Jaw - 16,000 lbs # C16115 because the A and Q-16 cannot be used with a rotating pin box which will be needed. In order to install either the A16 or Q16 you will also need the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit for Chevy/GMC part # C16400-204.
