Velcro Tie-Downs to Secure Extra Strap Material on Thule Passage Trunk-Mount Bike Rack
Question:
I just purchased a Passage 2 trunk rack for my 2009 Volkswagen GLI. When I installed the rack and pulled the bottom and side straps tight, there seems to be a lot of excess. Is it ok to cut the excess? Or how else do you suggest securing the loose strap?

Expert Reply:
Extra strap length on a trunk-mount bike rack like your Thule Passage # TH910XT can be secured using an item like the 5-piece Swagman kit # S64765 (which are 8-inches long). The straps can also be used to secure your front wheels and handlebars so they do not move while in transit. I recommend you avoid cutting the bike rack's straps if possible.
