How To Use the Rhino-Rack Batwing on a 2004 Jeep Wrangler with Smittybilt Roof Rack

i need a 270 degree awning for my 2 door rubicon with a smittybilt roof rack, crossbars are about 2.5 inches. i want maximum coverage but it not to hang past my rack in the front or rear, rack is about 5 feet long. what do i need?

I may have an option for you but I took a look at the Smittybilt Roof Rack that you have on your 2004 Jeep Wrangler and the only way I can think of to attach one of our Rhino-Rack Batwing Awnings is with new crossbars. The reason for this is that the awning requires a top channel to mount and the round crossbars you have do not possess this top channel. The best option we have for new crossbars are the Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars part # RRVA180B-2 for 71" long or part # RRVA200B-2 for 79" long with the Rhino-Rack SX Series Legs for Vortex Aero Crossbars part # RRSX100. In order to make sure you get the correct length we will need to measure the spacing between the two side rails you have now and choose the option that extends past this by 3"-5" or so. Once the above are successfully installed you can then use one of the following:

Rhino-Rack Batwing Awning - Passenger's Side - 118 Sq Ft - part # RR33200
Rhino-Rack Batwing Awning - Driver's Side - 118 Sq Ft - part # RR33100
Rhino-Rack Batwing Compact Awning - Passenger's Side - 69 Sq Ft - part # RR33400
Rhino-Rack Batwing Compact Awning - Driver's Side - 69 Sq Ft - part # RR33300

Unfortunately, we do not custom make awnings therefore you would need to find a way to mount a set of crossbars with top channel in order to use the Rhino-Rack Batwing which is the only 270 degree awning we offer.

We have verified with Rhino-Rack that you can use the Mounting Kit # RR31105 to install the Batwing Awning like # RR33200 to Yakima round crossbars.
