Roof Rack Kayak Carrier Recommendation for a 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon
Question:
Hi there, I have a 2017 Subaru Outback with factory rails that have the cross bars that swing out. Im looking to purchase my first kayak and I want to see what would work with the factory rails and crossbar. What would you suggest? Thank you,

I recommend using the JayLow # Y04073 kayak carrier to transport your kayak with your 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon. This is confirmed to fit the factory crossbars on your vehicle and features adjustable upright arms so you can carry 1 or 2 kayaks (if you go with a friend) and can also be folded down when not in use (great if you plan on leaving these on your crossbars). The cradles weight about 10 lbs combined and easily install on your crossbars using the clamp-on application. If you would like to add some security to your system then you can add the lock cores # Y07202 to lock the cradles to your roof rack.
For this carrier you can add the Yakima Cable # Y07233 to lock your kayak to your roof rack. If you use the JayLow then I recommend using the 4 lock core system # Y07204 so all of your keys are the same for the cable and cradles. Another great product you may be interested in is the Yakima Hood Anchor Kit # Y07416 which simply gives you easy attachment points to secure your stern/bow.
I have attached some review videos for the carriers and anchor kit that you can reference.
