Wiring Recommendation for a 2015 Lincoln MKC Towing a Boat Trailer with 5-Way Connector
Question:
I am looking for a way to tow our boat. The 2015 Lincoln Mkc has a class 3 hitch but no wiring. The boat has a 5flat and I will need a trailer brake controller. Any ideas?

Since your 2015 Lincoln MKC didn't come with the factory tow package you need the Tekonsha T-One # 118284 for the basic trailer light functions. Then typically when a boat trailer has a 5-Way wiring harness that means it has a hydraulic actuator with an electric lockout. If this is the case then all you need to complete your wiring is the Tow Ready # 20036. This plugs into your 4-Way and then includes an extra wire that you connect to your reverse wire.
If you still wanted to install a brake controller on your MKC then you need the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7 which gives you a fully functioning 7-Way and all of the parts to run additional wiring to your battery and your cab for a brake controller like the Prodigy P2 # 90885. If you have hydraulic brakes on your trailer though an electric brake controller won't activate the brakes on your trailer. For this to be compatible with the 5-Way on your trailer you also need the adapter # C35FR.
