Can Hitch Extension and Reducer for 2-1/2 Trailer Hitches be Cut Down
Question:
Can this be cut down to 28. 34 inch is too long and 24 is too short. Plan on towing a 12 foot enclosed cargo trailer with a max 400 lb hitch weight or putting a motorcycle on a rack directly on the extension behind my 10 foot camper

The Curt Hitch Extension and Reducer for 2-1/2" Trailer Hitches # C45048 and the similar Reese Hitch Box Extension and Reducer # RP45292 can only be cut down to 24" and not 28". These have only been tested at those lengths and there hitch pin holes on each are oriented in a manner that other lengths would not be realistically achievable.
If you need the added distance, so long as you stay within the 450 lb tongue weight capacity and 4,500 lb towing capacity with the Curt # C45048 at its full 34" long you should be just fine.
