Expert Reply:
I checked with Demco and the handle on the Demco Trailer Coupler - Flat Plate Mount - eZ-Latch # DM15080-97 is made of a nylon composite. That is a fancy way of saying it is made of plastic although this is a highly durable plastic. The composite is engineered specifically for strength and will work in temperatures that range from -20 degrees to 200 degrees fahrenheit so the handle is extremely durable and able to withstand rugged use and conditions.
The Demco # DM15080-97 coupler is a flat-plate coupler which means it is going to bolt onto your trailer; it accepts a 2" hitch ball and has a 10,000 lb capacity.
