Troubleshooting Weak Trailer Brakes that Are Adjusted, New Grounds, and New Assemblies
Question:
we put new backing plates, pre assembled onto trailer, reconnected all wiring and re did ground on trailer, we tested for power to each wheel and we have power. we adjusted brakes. we replaced break away battery and still are not getting full stop on wheels when we engage the brake away switch. we attached trailer to two different trucks and set adjuster on 10 and still not working.

What gauge wire is carrying the power to the brake assemblies? It needs to be 10 gauge like part # 10-1-1 which is sold by the foot. If you have smaller gauge wire all of the amperage needed to lock up the brakes would not be able to get to the assemblies. That's pretty much the only part of the equation you haven't tested or replaced.
