Does Anything But a Class I Trailer Hitch Fit 2013 Ford Focus ST Hatchback

Question:

I understand the possible need for changing the central exhaust position with a new muffler. Other Focus models with under 200 hp are rated for 2000#, so Ford has not explained why the ST is not rated for anything? Is it a frame difference or other suspension component? Everything on the ST seems to be stiffer or heavier and with 252 hp would seem to be capable of Class 2 equipment?

There is one trailer hitch fit for a 2013 Ford Focus ST hatchback, the Curt Trailer Hitch # C11431 which is a Class I hitch and not Class II, as you noted. This means you would need to use accessories that are Class I compatible and have a 1-1/4 inch shank, such as the Thule EasyFold XT 2 Bike Platform Rack # TH903202.

If you are asking the reason behind the decisions as to why only a Class I hitch is available for a '13 Focus ST hatchback, unfortunately that is not something I can give you definitive reasons about. Those decisions are made by engineers that use long-standing testing methods to ensure the safety of their products for consumers.
