Will ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire Fit 6 Wide Rims
Question:
I am trying to figure the width of my rims with the tire still mounted on my trailer. Its a question of going with the STs or staying with the LTs. I used a large caliper, measured the width of the tire which came out to 8inch on the LT tire then I used a flat bar and laid it across the high spot of the tire then measured from the inside of the bar tire side to the outside of the rim where the actual bead part and came up with 1inch less on both sides, deducted that amount from the 8inch which gave me a 6inch rim. This may sound a little confusing, but with out removing the tire and breaking it down I felt this would be an easier way of doing it. I just want to make the right decision before buying tires. I chatted with Jon about making the switch, he explained to me the Goodyear Endurance ST 225/75 15 tires would be the best way to go speed rating and weight. Right now its a balancing question as to which way to go, if I stick with the LTs I would not have to buying a 5th tire to be used for the spare.

I do understand what you mean about the measurements that you took. As long as the bead seat to bead seat measurement is 6" then any of our 225/75R15 tires will fit.
I recommended the Kenda Karrier ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire # AM10303. This is a load range E (2,830 lbs at 80 psi) with an 81 mph speed rating and it comes with a 2-year limited warranty. You know you can trust the Kenda name not only because of the numerous positive customer reviews we have received but because Kenda creates tires for other applications than trailers as well.
In your previous question you stated that your tires are at least 12 years old. If your spare tire is 12 years old as well then I highly recommend you replace that tire as well. Even if it looks like it's in good shape on the outside there can be damage on the inside from just sitting there. You want to make sure that your spare is just as reliable as the tires you have on your trailer so that if you ever get in a situation where you need to use that spare you can have some peace of mind and not have to wonder if it will hold up.
I do not recommend staying with an LT tire. Trailer tires are made with stronger side walls to endure the extra load and bounce. I would recommend replacing all of your tires as well as that spare tire.
