Brake Controller and Weight Distribution System Recommendation for 2015 Toyota Tacoma

Question:

Hey.. we are purchasing a new camper that weighs 2700lbs empty so figure 5000lbs fully loaded. We have a 2015 Toyota tacoma 4x4 long bed, with tow package. We have the factory hitch and 7 pin connector. I know the truck will pull it no problem.. but have questions about the hitch ... My questions: 1. What brake controller do you recommend and where to install it are air bags a problem? 2. Does the factory hitch have sway control and weight distribution? If not, what do you recommend? Thanks!

The easiest to install brake controller we have that also works really well for your 2015 Toyota Tacoma is the Curt Echo part # C51180 which basically just plugs right into your 7-way, syncs to your smartphone, and you're on your way. I attached a review video for this kit for you to check out as well. Air bags are not a problem at all for your truck either if you wanted to go that route.

We have the Firestone kit part # F2407 as a confirmed fit for your Tacoma which will allow you to tailor how much suspension support your truck gets at any given time by adjusting the air pressure.

If you are also interested in weight distribution/sway control this would be the route I would go over the air bags. Typically a good WD system gets you all of the same benefits as an air bag kit with added benefit of increased traction and handling when braking.

The system I recommend is the Strait Line kit part # RP66083 which has a tongue weight range of 400-800 lbs and features only sway control designed to fight sway before it starts.

For a 2 inch ball you would want part # A-90 and for a 2-5/16 inch ball # 19286.
