Should Blue Ox Patriot Push Towed Vehicle Brakes Firmly When Tow Vehicle Applies Brakes

Question:

I purchased a Patriot II brake system from you guys a month ago or so. Im just now getting around to setting it up. I am having problems getting the rod to extend out to apply the brake. All the lights indicate proper setup. Any ideas? Thanks

If you are testing the application of the Blue Ox Patriot part # BLU37TR with the brake pedal of your tow vehicle while at a stop you won't see the Patriot's brake pedal application move much since it's not sensing the amount of braking you are applying. This system has an inertia sensor which has to feel you apply the brakes hard to apply the towed vehicle brakes hard. You should be able to slide the manual override lever of the Patriot and see the pedal assembly apply firmly though. Since you aren't seeing any error codes that's what most likely is going on.

If you aren't seeing the assembly move with the override lever though let me know and we can troubleshoot further.
