Expert Reply:

The smallest tire that will fit a 16 inch trailer wheel is sized 235/80R16, which is 30.79" in diameter and 9.25" wide.

You should take a look at the Taskmaster Provider # TTWTRTM2358016E because of its tread, which channels water away from the tire to improve traction during wet, snowy, or icy conditions

This is a load range E tire with a 3,520 lb capacity when filled to 80 psi and will fit 16" x 6", 16" x 6-1/2", 16" x 7", and 16" x 7-1/2" rims. This tire comes with a 2-year Warranty.

This is the best trailer tire but it is only 10 ply; if you want at least 12 ply the only option in this size is the Provider # PRG80235 which is 14 ply and is a load range G tire with a 4,080 lbs capacity at 110 psi. It will fit 16" x 6", 16" x 6-1/2", and 16" x 7" rims.

I've added links to video reviews of both tires for you to check out.
