Is a Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch Needed for a 2017 Ford F-250 6-3/4 Foot Bed with TurnTec Trailer
Question:
Hello, I have a 2015 Coachmen Chapparal 336TSIK 5th wheel with TurnTec. My tow vehicle is a 2017 Ford F-250 supercab with a 6’9” box do I need a sliding/roller hitch? Thank you

The tapered nose on your 2015 Coachmen Chapparal 336TSIK which is referred to as "TurnTec" should not require the use of a sliding 5th wheel hitch on your 2017 Ford F-250 with the 6-3/4' bed. The 6-3/4' bed is also on the longer side of what is classified as a short bed therefore you should have no issue with turning clearance between your truck and trailer. The correct 5th wheel hitch for you will depend on if you have the factory rail kit or the pucks installed in your truck bed from the factory.
If you do have the factory rail kit then I recommend using the Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # C16520-16017. This hitch will be an excellent option for you. It will fit into the factory pucks installed in the truck bed and has a unique three point indication system that alerts you when you are ready to uncouple, couple, or tow. The hitch comes with the updated A16 head and has a limited lifetime warranty.
If you do not have the factory rail kit then I recommend using the Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # C16120 with the B&W Custom 5th Wheel Installation Kit part # BWRVK2402. This is the same hitch as listed above but will come with the necessary components needed for installation on a truck that is not equipped with the factory rail kit.
