Troubleshooting Edge Performance Chip on 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel

Question:

Hello, I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 with the edge performance chip installed in it. I bought the truck with it already installed so I don’t know much about the installation of it. My problem is that when I turn the key to the on position the display screen comes on, only if I press a button, but when I try to start the truck the screen goes black and shuts off...therefore the truck will turnover but will not start. Not sure if the problem with the edge shutting off is the problem of the no start or not but not sure why it is turning off when I try to start truck. Any advice would be much appreciated. I have owned the truck for 2 years and this problem with the edge just started a couple days ago. I checked the fuses and all good and have also checked the wire to the battery negative..it looks good as well. I am new to all of this as well as the Diesel world. I reached out to my contact at Edge and he said that is typical of an older unit that is having technical issues. He recommended completely removing the unit and said your truck should start as normal. If that is the case, then the unit needs checked out and possibly repaired. If it won't start after removing the Edge tuner, then it is a mechanical issue that is unrelated to the tuner.

If removing the tuner solves your issue, then I recommend upgrading your tuner instead of repairing the old unit.
