Will Curt Echo Brake Controller Apply Trailer Brakes When Bumps are Hit
Question:
I have read a review that indicates the trailer brakes are applied when the tow vehicle goes over bumps. Is this correct? If so, can it be turned off in this scenario? Thanks

The Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller # C51180 would not under normal circumstances apply the trailer brakes when you hit bumps. It does have an inertia sensor that looks for sudden changes in movement to apply the trailer brakes, but the brakes of the tow vehicle would have to be on for that to happen first. So if you were applying the brakes of your tow vehicle and you hit a large bump you might feel a momentary application of the trailer brakes but it would immediately release them. If you weren't applying the vehicle brakes the trailer brakes would not apply at all.
