What Underbody Trim Piece Needs to be Removed to Install Trailer Hitch on 2018 Mazda CX-5 GT
Question:
In the note section, it mentioned that there are additional parts that need to be permanently removed for GT model. Can you provide more details on which parts will need to be removed? Are there any impacts from removing those parts? Thanks.

If you take a look at the accompanying photo, which was sent in by a customer, you can see the part that needs to be removed when installing a trailer hitch like the Draw-Tite # 76138 (which has a 2" receiver) on your 2018 Mazda CX-5 GT.
This is just a strip of plastic that will not impact your CX-5 at all. It can be taken off with just a flathead screwdriver and you'll be set.
Otherwise, the installation of the trailer hitches is no different than other models of CX-5. I have added links to videos of both trailer hitches on a Mazda CX-5 for you to take a look at.
If you need trailer wiring a great option to power your trailer's lights I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118746 because it is the easiest harness that fits your Mazda to install as well as the most reliable. I have added a link to an install video of the harness for you as well.
