Recommended Roof Mounted Fork Mount Bike Rack on 2016 Mazda CX-5
Question:
Hello - Im searching for a combination of base rack and fork mount bike rack for my 2016 Mazda CX-5 that will allow for a forward-facing ride fork mounted towards front of vehicle. My CX-5 has the roof rails installed and flimsy low-strength factory crossbars, I wont be using these crossbars unless I can figure a way to significantly lessen their motioninch in the poor mount. The challenge I see is fitting a bike rack far enough forward to not impact the rear hatch opening. Got any solutions with factory rails installed or removed? Thanks!

For your 2016 Mazda CX-5, if you want to upgrade your roof rack I recommend the Thule WingBar Evo Crossbars # TH711420, the Evo Raised Rail Feet # TH710401, and locks # TH450400. This system is rated for 165 lbs capacity.
Then I recommend the Inno Fork Lock Roof Bike Rack - Fork Mount - Channel Mounted - Aluminum # INXA391 which you can see mounted on a similar vehicle on the attached video. If you don't mind the connection around the crossbars, then the Kuat Trio Roof Bike Rack - Fork Mount - Clamp On - Aluminum - Black and Polished Chrome # TR02 is an excellent option that will lock to your front crossbar with a tool and comes with a bike lock as well.
If you want to remove or work around your factory crossbars, you can alternatively use the SeaSucker Talon Roof Bike Rack - Fork Mount - Vacuum Cup Mounted # 298-BT1004. These vacuum cups have a 210 lb pull strength each. I've attached a video to assist.
