Will Roadmaster 9700 Brake System Activate Brakes When Motorhome Turn Signal is Engaged
Question:
When wiring the 98800 into a wiring harness by splitting the yellow and green wires brake / signal, using the diode do the brakes engage every time you put the turn signal on or is this what the diode is for?

Great question!
I reached out to my contact at Roadmaster who said that the Roadmaster 9400 Portable Supplemental Braking System # RM-9400 will only activate the brakes on your towed vehicle when it receives signal on both the yellow and green wires. This applies to the RoadMaster Second Vehicle Kit # RM-98800 you referenced as well.
The only time that this becomes a problem is in the event that you have your hazards on and driving down the road. To avoid the braking system pulsing with your hazard lights you can install the Roadmaster Universal Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751000 to your motorhome and route the wire to the Roadmaster brake system so that it only receives signal when the brake pedal is pressed.
I spoke with one of our install guys who said that when they installed this unit they pressed the brake pedal in about 1/4" and then hit the reset button so that if your brake pedal on your motorhome doesn't come back all the way your brakes on the towed vehicle won't stayed activated.
