B&W Companion Draw Down Bolt Not Tightening to Installation Specs

Question:

Trying to torque the draw down bolt to 60 foot lbs doesnt seen to work the bolt tightens a little then just loosen and keeps tuning Tightens again but same result. I put the spring latch on it and hope it isnt going to cause a bad situation. Do you know? When torquing down the draw down bolt. It never tightens. read another post here that it just helps to get the turnover ball shaft through the socket. Its not stripped since hitch is brand new. Is this a real problem?

The B&W Companion Slider Gooseneck-to-5th-Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter - Dual Jaw - 20,000 lbs # BWRVK3400 should not be loosening as you state and it does sound like you have either a stripped bolt because it tightens to an extent and then loosens but will allow you to tighten again to that same point.

I've attached the installation details that state it should be torqued to 80 foot lbs for use. This bolt draws the hitch firmly into the bed of the truck ensuring the underbed connection is strong. I cannot confirm that use in any other way is acceptable. This issue will be covered under your warranty
